Tax and Finance: $1 billion in EITC returns in NYS ? United Way of ...

A press release from New York State Tax and Finance Commissioner Thomas Mattox reports, among other milestones, that 1.5 million New Yorkers benefited from $1 billion in EITC refunds for the 2011 tax year.

New York United Ways partner with local governments,?other community groups and 2-1-1?to conduct outreach and marketing, and provide free income tax assistance to those who qualify for the EITC and other tax benefits for low-income working families.?United Ways?also played an important role?in the passage of the state Earned Income Tax Credit into state tax law and its subsequent expansion to 30% of the federal credit.
