Bjarne Riis in hot water after Tyler Hamilton revelations
The former American cyclist Tyler, Hamilton has recently introduced his new publication, The Secret Race: Inside the Hidden World of the Tour de France: Doping, Cover-ups, and Winning at All costs.
Hamilton talked about Bjarne Riis? links to Dr. Eufemiano Fuentes and the use of blood doping within his team in the book.
Riis has previously admitted doping during his career as a cyclist but has never accepted to have any links with Dr. Fuentes since he is in charge of Team Saxo Bank and CSC.
The Book, ?The Secret Race? reveals that it was in fact Riis who introduced Hamilton to Fuentes and the American restated the facts during the launch of Danish version of his book on a television show on Sunday Night.
While talking to DR, Tyler cited that it was actually Riis who provided him with Fuentes contact information and was all aware of the doping business.
However, Bjarne flatly denied the allegations in August while talking to the Ritzau news agency stating that he has never met Fuentes in his life.
Whereas, Tyler thinks otherwise, "They have met," he stated.
"I remember an episode from 2002 - I think it was in April - when Fuentes, Bjarne and I were in the same hotel room in Spain?.
?I can still remember how the hotel looked. Bjarne wanted to meet him, but afterwards Fuentes a bit angry that Bjarne had come with me".
"Every time we saw each other for races or training camps, we talked about it [doping]. But never in front of others. We kept it to ourselves?.
?We also tried not to talk about it on the phone, it was hard at times, when the police began to become interested".
While accusing Riis of doping, the American also noted that the Dane should be brave and shall admit his wrong doings as this is what the sport needs at the moment.
Bjarne is currently performing his General Manager obligations with the World Tour side; Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank the team has ensured to support him through this tough time.
However, Bjarne might face a detailed investigation after the accusations made by the former American cyclist considering, the UCI is leaving no stones unturned to expose those who had been unfaithful to the sport.
